Rev. Thomas Prentiss (1747-1814) was born in Holliston, Massachusetts and was the son of Rev. Joshua Prentiss. He graduated from Harvard in 1766. Prentiss was ordained as the minister in Medfield, Massachusetts in 1770 and served there until his death in 1814. During the Revolutionary War, Prentiss served as a chaplain. He published several sermons during his lifetime, including ordination sermons, a Fourth of July sermon in 1799, and a sermon on the War of 1812.
