Rev. Caleb Barnum (1737-1776) was born in Woodbury, Connecticut. He was ordained at the church in Wrentham, Massachusetts in 1760, but resigned in 1768. Barnum next became the minister in Taunton, Massachusetts in 1769. When the Revolutionary War broke out, he became a chaplain. He served during the siege of Boston and then traveled to Canada and New York with the army. He died from a fever in August 1776.
