Rev. Benjamin Balch (1743-1815) was born in Dedham. He was ordained as the minister in Mendon, Massachusetts in 1768 and left in 1772. During the Revolutionary War, Balch served as a chaplain and was often at sea. In 1784, he was ordained as the minister in Barrington, New Hampshire, where he served until his death in 1815. Balch published one ordination sermon during his lifetime.
