Mercy L. Wood relation of faith, 1841

Though the goodness of God i have been blessed with pious friends, whose early instructions led me to think much on the subject of religion. My mind has at times been impressed with its importance; but these ^impressions were not lasting; the vanities of the world turned my attention for a time. Thus i continued to sin against a holy and just God. At the commencement of the revival last spring, i felt much opposed but was led to see the depravity of my heart. I thought it was the last time my attention would be called up. I attended an inquiry meeting; it deepened my impressions. and I returned home in great ^much distress of mind. i felt myself to be a great sinner in the sight of God, and justly condemned.. the next day i felt differently; but was afraid my impressions were leaving me. Since then i have had many doubts and fears; but of late, have enjoyed my mind moste [sic] of the time. i humbly hope I ^have found peace in believing; and ask the prayers and council of this church that i may walk ^worthy of my profession.
