John Kelly relation of faith, 1828

I have had many pious instructions and admonitions but I rejected them all. I cast off fear and and restrained prayer till some time in february, 1827, when my attention was some what colled up to attend to the concerns of my soul but these convictions grad- ually wore away and I became more careliss than ever. The forth day of March I attended a relig eavning meating and my at- tention was again colled up. I connot tell of anything in par- ticular that first colled up my attention. My convictions were increased by attending several other meatings. I some times heard people say that it was uterly impossible to turn to the Lord themselvs I thought it could not be that the Lord was all of the of converting siners But I soon found that it was impossible for man to perfect so great woork The 13th day of April as I hope and trust I gave myself up to the Lord and for a time I enjoyed that hapiness that I never before exparienced but at length it semed as if I hod gone all back again but still I thought I could not give up my hope. I have for a fiew weeks past enjoyed my-self much beter thane I have for a long time before. So far as I know my own heart I think I have experinced a great change but still I know that I am a very unworthy sinful creature. I feel It my duty to com ought and seperate myself from the wourld and be on the Lords side and to unite with this Church If there is no objiction. I also request the prayers of this Church that I may be kept from fol ling into sin. John Kelly.
