Jedidiah Lyon confession, 1786

I desire humbly & penitently to confess before God, his Church & this congregation, that on Sept. 21st 1782, at Levi Wood's, I was unwarily overcome with strong liquor, in the view Of several persons present; by which conduct, I have greatly disho= =nour'd God & my own profession, & grieved my Christian brethren. I desire to be humbled before God on account thereof; & I ask The forgiveness of all that have been grieved or offended thereby; & I ask your prayers that God would forgive me, & give me grace to be more watchful over myself for the future. __ ___ Jedidiah Lyon
