The Confession of Josiah Clark & his Wife - We appear at this Time to take shame to ourselves for that We have sinned - we confess that we were Con- ceved Conceived & brought forth in sin, and have been going astray ever since we have been in the World - but especially in that we have been guilty of the breach of the Seventh Commandment by Committing the sin of Fornication - being sensible of the breach of the Divine Law - and the dishonour of God therein & the Destruction of the immortal soul thereby are led thus publickly to make this Confession - hoping that God would be pleased to forgive this and all other of our sins and give us grace to serve him faithfully the remaining part of our Days - Likewise would ask the forgiveness of this Church and Congregation, that they would receive us to their Charity - Josiah Clark Hannah Clark _________ January 1: 1775 accepted
