Eleazer Thomas Jr. relation of faith, 1824

I desire to be thankfull that I have lived under the sound of the Gospel ___ Yet I have to lament I have made no better improvement. About three years ago the Lord brought me very low by sickness __ my mind was much impressed in view of my sinfull state __I do not think these impresions were entirely worne off. when the revival took commencd in this place: my mind was more powerfully impressd last October. I then viewd myself a condemd ____ Sinner, and ^if God did cast me off___ and never show me mercy he would do right ___But I do indulge a trembling hope the Lord has had- mercy on me.__ I think^during the latter part of the month of Oct. I was made to submit myself to God, and to resign my all into the hand of God. and think I had some satisfaction in believing in the Lord Jesus Christ, yet I think I had- greater love to the cause of truth - and my duty made more plain on Thanksgiving day. I find I have very great love for the people of God and desire their company. I have thought since that time, it was my duty to come out from the world. I have a desire to join this Church__ and be baptized, yet I do now with trembling make this publick profession of my faith in Christ, and ask the prayers of all Gods people, that I may not be left to bring reproach on the cause which I now hope & love.
