I desier to bless god that i was born in a land of lite and in so clear light of the gospel and i desier to bless god that i had such parents as gave me up to god in baptisom and now i desier to renu my baptisomal vows by coming up to this ordinanc of the lords super when i was about thirten or forteen years old i was under convictions i se that i was a siner and that i had nead of a saver wich put me up on secret prear by wich i got ese in sum mesuer but yet threw the goodnes of god i have reason think his spirit was striving with me a grte meny times and his blesed rstrants ^ were laid upon me, that i darst not dwo som thing that i have sen others do but the glory be unto God the death of my husband ^ taught me in sum mesure the in sofincy of every thing hear but yet i was blind to Eney spiritual site: the great Earthquake that was a bout four or five year ago it gave me a shok it shuk my heart for wich i think i can truly say i desire to bless god i was brought to se that i my self was on done i se that i must pirish in the astate i was in by nature i was in very mush consearn for my soul i got me ^ a thinking upon Election and mene a time fear i greaved the holy sprit but comforted mi self with those thots that ef i was Elected i should be saved i thought upon coming to this ordinanc but yet i was afraid bcast coming unworthyly i shoul Eat and drink damnation to my self but last wint er god in his infinight good ness brought me to se more of the damnable natur of sin then Ever i did before, i did ^ seemed to despair of Eney marcy: i could read and her the word but i could se no comfert for me: one sabath day morning i thought my estat very meserabl: i tok a book and the first place i opened was that in the second of corinthians sixth chapter and 2 vairs i was much transpor ted with joy ^ Cx appeared all desirable & just such a Saviour as I wanted & I think my soul chose him and sens I think i can truly say i have sean more buty in holyness then ever i did before that place in psalms has come with very much power upon my soul trust in god at all tiems power out your heart before him that place in romans forth chapter and twentieth first vairc has bin a grea comfert to me and being fuly perswaded that what he had promised he was able also to perform: i have yet a grat many fears conserning my Estate but i se my duty ^ so very plain i dearest not stay a way eney longer and now i ofer my self to you beging your earnest prears to god for me that i may never rest in eneything sheart of jesus christ if i have Ever ofended Eney i beg theair forgiveness Deborah Cushman June 28 1760 Middleboro
