Abijah Cobb relation of faith, 1765

The Confession of Abijah Cobb I desire to Bles god that I was born of Religious parents and given up to god in babtism in infancy I was often under grate consern when I was young more Espeasuly in the time of the general awakining about Two and twenty years ago: I was afraid that ^ while others ^ were would be taken and I ^ should be Left: I was often in Such distress that i fered that I should be Cut off ameadeatly and sent down to Hell: & one Evening in in perticuler: as in grate Distress under a Sence of my sins and polution: I Seemed to be pressed Down with an heavey Load of gilt Expeting to be cast down to Hell Everey minit which I see that I deserved. when I was in this sad Case, one Come into the Home and Spoke to me about the Exelency of Christ to save sinners yt ye way of Salvn by Cx opend & it was a most glorious & excellent way; also as soon as these words ware spoke it seemd to me^ as if as if Christ yt Cx Looked down from Heaven upon me and offored me pardon: appeared to me: and ^ if I am not mistaken it Seemed as if my heart accepted him CX:^ & I chose the way of Salvation by him: this way of Salvation as it now appeard to me was a way that I never desired or thot of before & in this way of Salvn God appeared to be reconciled to me: at this time it Seemd to me that Christs [?] Righteousness was imparted to me and that [?] was Reconsiled those words came to my mind "my beloved is mine and I am his he is the Chiefest among ten thousand the one all to geather Lovely which & he apeared So to me; but Soon after I was Exercised with grat Darknes: having ^ I had a Desire to come to the Lords Super but was afraid to Come for fear I Should Come unprepared, Especily those words in 1 of Corinthians 11: & 29 ware a grate Teror to me: Several Tims after ^ Since I have been in a grate distress under a Sence of Sins; and have often ben made sencable that it would be Just if the almighty Should Cast me off; [one word] ^ but have ben In Couraged by the aplecation of Such Scripturs as these John 14:1 Let not your hart be troubled ye believe in god bleve also in me. & 6 verce I am the way of the truth & the Life noman Comeith to the father but by me & in Psalms why arte thou Cast down o my Soule & why arte thou Disquited in me hop in God for I shall yet prais him but Still have ben afraid to Com, but Since the death of my brother have had a grater Sence of the Eavil of neglecting that holy ordinance and while I was Searching my Self those words came to me _______
